Had a nice week.  We worked Wednesday thru Friday in the clinic because of Independence day holiday Mon. and Tues.  1st a couple of pictures from the clinic.  The first is the staff.  Dr. and Sister Mangum from Prescott Az., Emmo and Moi who are volunteer assistants, and myself.  Next are a couple of friends who came in together to have teeth pulled.  The are wearing the school uniforms of the Church College.  They are both 16 yeas old and speak English well.  English is taught at the school and in fact the students are not to speak Samoan while on the school grounds.  The school thinks that english is the language of commerce and wants all of their students to be proficient when they leave.  Kind of like Quinny speaking nothing but Chinese at Muir.

Dick and Carol Mangum and I took a trip Saturday to the Southwest coast of Upolo.  We did a little snorkeling and saw some giant clams.  Very interesting.  Unfortunately I couldn't take photos but you may want to google them to see what they look like.  This area is stunningly beautiful.

On our way back home we drove through a mountain village and came across a small banana plantation.  We got out of our car to take a picture and suddenly a little girl appeared then one after another until these 5 children were saying hello and telling us their names in English.  They were way cute and lived on the plantation.

Some other children wanted to get into the act at the beach.  I think these people don't understand the concept of the dark and dreary world.  I think they feel they never left the garden of eden.

  Love you all.     Duane
